A wooden chair of distinctive sculptural character occupies the center of this square-format photograph, positioned against a soft gray background that extends seamlessly from wall to floor. The chair is oriented in a three-quarter view, angled slightly toward the left, revealing both its front and right side. Beginning with overall form, the chair rises approximately knee-height, supported by four straight legs of rectangular cross-section arranged in a conventional chair footprint. The legs exhibit the warm honey-gold color of natural light wood, perhaps ash or maple, with visible vertical grain lines creating subtle striations along their surfaces. The seat itself forms a relatively flat rectangular platform, its upper surface bathed in soft light that brings out pale cream and butter-yellow tones suggesting freshly finished hardwood. What distinguishes this piece dramatically from conventional seating appears between the legs: a series of curved wooden strips, perhaps eight in number, that fan outward in graceful arcs from the underside of the seat. These curved elements create the impression of pages spreading open from a book's spine or the structural ribs of a leaf unfurling. Each strip follows a parallel curve to its neighbors, but their layered arrangement creates depth as some pass in front of others. The curves descend from the seat, reaching their lowest point at center before rising to meet the opposite leg, forming arch-like supports beneath the sitting surface. Light catches the outer curves of these elements, warming them to golden tones, while shadows gather in the narrow channels between layers, creating deeper amber and brown accents. The overall impression suggests organic growth patterns translated into functional furniture, the wood's natural warmth radiating gentle honeyed light against the cool neutral background.
Flip Chair is inspired by the serene feeling of sitting on a grassy lawn, where one can enjoy the natural softness, warmth, and gentle breeze of the environment. The chair's flip theme embodies the graceful movement of grass in the wind, creating a dynamic and organic form. To achieve this effect, the fluidity and folds of the chair's seat are simulated and the wood was bent into shape using steam. The resulting product was then meticulously handcrafted to provide users with an authentic and immersive natural experience.
