Golden A' Design Award Winner 2023
Scanning from ceiling to floor through this grand hotel atrium interior, the description begins with the most striking feature overhead, a large pyramidal glass skylight that allows soft natural daylight to filter into the space, framed by a warm golden border of recessed cove lighting that creates a glowing amber perimeter. Below this celestial aperture, the walls rise through multiple stories wrapped in vertical wooden slat screens the color of warm honey and cinnamon, their linear rhythm creating a sense of visual music across the expansive interior surfaces. These wood tones feel warm like sun-touched timber, rich and inviting against the cooler grey concrete or stone columns that punctuate the space at regular intervals. The middle level features a horizontal balcony band with similar warm wood screening and integrated lighting that reads as a luminous ribbon encircling the atrium. Moving down to the ground level, the floor appears as polished marble in silvery grey with subtle veining, cool and smooth underfoot like river stone. The furniture arrangement follows a roughly symmetrical pattern organized around the central vertical axis. In the immediate foreground, two large decorative planters in abstract geometric patterns of coral, teal, cream, and ochre flank a long wooden console table displaying colorful decorative objects. Green leafy plants rise from these planters, their foliage fresh and verdant like spring growth. Beyond this, multiple seating groupings are arranged featuring low sofas and armchairs upholstered in soft grey and warm tan, textures suggesting supple leather, accompanied by small round side tables and coffee tables in dark wood and metal. To the left, a bar area with illuminated shelving displays bottles creating a warm glow. To the right, a large traditional painted mural depicting a misty landscape with architectural elements provides a contemplative backdrop. The overall atmosphere suggests quiet refinement, the hushed warmth of an elegant gathering space bathed in gentle golden light.
