The Beijing Parade Restaurant

A long narrow corridor stretches directly ahead, entirely enveloped in rich crimson red that suggests the warmth of glowing embers or ceremonial silk. Scanning from the entrance toward the distant end, identical lattice screens rise along both left and right walls from floor to ceiling, their intricate grid patterns composed of horizontal and vertical bars creating countless small rectangular openings through which warm light glows like hundreds of tiny windows at dusk. The screens possess a deep red color reminiscent of aged wine or lacquered wood, illuminated from behind so that each grid member appears as a dark silhouette against luminous warmth. The ceiling mirrors this treatment, pressing the same geometric pattern from above, creating the sensation of traveling through a luminous rectangular tunnel where every surface participates in the unified design. The floor beneath presents a dramatically different character, polished to such smoothness that it creates perfect mirror reflections of the walls and ceiling above, effectively doubling the visual complexity and suggesting cool stone or polished concrete beneath one's feet. This reflective surface captures a stripe of golden light that extends from the viewer toward the distant focal point. At the corridor's far end, perhaps thirty paces distant where the walls converge to near-meeting, a small rectangular doorway frames absolute darkness from which emerges a delicate golden pagoda, its five tiers stacked in diminishing scale and glowing with warm amber light like a precious object illuminated within a shrine. The pagoda's golden warmth provides the only chromatic departure from the surrounding crimson, creating a beacon that draws the eye and the body forward through this remarkable architectural passage.

The space is featured by concise and refined style, but reveals an ingeniously subtle clue and metaphor of those brilliant achievements of the Silk Road, which is a reinterpretation of the historical nodes of the great international exchanges. The designers paid homage to ancient Chinese by designing living scenes with a human touch to reproduce the world of the Tang people and create a Belt and Road-themed restaurant that blends feasting styles.
