Sky Bar Roof Top Restaurant

Scanning this interior photograph from top to bottom and then from foreground to background, you enter a dramatic restaurant space where the most striking feature occupies the entire upper third of the image. Thousands of cylindrical tubes, each perhaps four to six inches in diameter and varying in length from several inches to several feet, hang suspended from the ceiling in dense clusters. These tubes display warm golden-amber coloring, like aged brass or burnished copper catching firelight, and their hollow circular ends face downward, creating a honeycomb-like pattern of illuminated rings against the darkness above. The installation undulates gently, rising and falling like ocean waves frozen in metal and light, creating a sensation that might feel like standing beneath a vast organic canopy. Moving your attention to the right side of the composition, a dark charcoal-gray wall panel rises vertically, its surface smooth and matte like slate or polished concrete. A fusion of sustainable and Natural Materials with organic pattern in design is a key factor of this design. Kolhapur is known for its rich heritage of art, architecture and culture of India. The suburb of Kolhapur is a cotton textile hub of India. Designers have taken a clue from this local context and have designed the restaurant using recycled Paper Tubes that are used to roll the fabric. It portrays the design philosophy of repetition of a module to generate patterns and textures. One can enjoy sunsets and cocktails while the paper tubes oscillate with the natural wind on the roof top.
