This interior photograph presents a contemporary bookstore viewed from within the main retail floor, scanning from ceiling to floor level across a wide horizontal frame. Dominating the upper half of the composition, an extraordinary concentric ceiling structure draws immediate attention, consisting of alternating rings that step inward toward a central circular light fixture. The rings alternate between warm honey-colored wood, smooth and inviting like light maple furniture, and glossy black bands that function as mirrors, reflecting the surrounding space in curved distortions. This creates a mesmerizing tunnel effect that appears to recede infinitely upward, the reflections showing glimpses of bookshelves and visitors multiplied in curved repetition. Moving downward to eye level, floor-to-ceiling bookshelves line the walls in warm natural wood tones, their surfaces organized into regular rectangular compartments densely packed with books of various sizes and colors, spines creating a colorful mosaic pattern against the neutral shelving. To the left, large windows allow soft daylight to enter, illuminating visitors browsing near display tables. The middle ground contains curved display furniture echoing the circular ceiling motif, constructed from the same honey-toned wood, their surfaces presenting stacked books arranged for browsing. These curved elements feel smooth and polished, suggesting well-crafted millwork. Several visitors occupy the space in relaxed postures, standing and reading or examining selections, their casual presence suggesting a welcoming atmosphere. The floor extends in pale timber planks, warm underfoot and consistent with the wood palette throughout, creating a unified envelope of natural material warmth surrounding the impressive architectural intervention overhead.
Taicang Readzone Bookstore, which located in Department Store, is in a circular theater form. With the use of circular theater design and towering mazy book walls, readers and books then become the main characters in this place, and through elastic functions among books on display, collect books and seats to fit with different usage scenarios. Book walls and multi-directional door frames, look like concentrated urban street scenes, inviting readers to explore, with brand recognition.
