CIFI Nansha Yaoyue Bay Sales Center

Golden A' Design Award Winner 2022

A photograph captures a symmetrical interior space designed as a contemporary sales center, presented in landscape orientation with perfect mirror balance between left and right halves. Beginning with orientation, viewers encounter a predominantly white and dark composition where luminous curved walls frame a central ceremonial axis. Scanning from the foreground, a highly polished dark floor resembling black glass or deep charcoal stone reflects everything above with perfect clarity, creating the sensation of standing at the edge of a still pool. Rising from this reflective surface on both left and right sides, shallow circular basins contain what appear to be ripple patterns frozen in metal, suggesting the moment just after drops have disturbed calm water. Suspended above each basin, elongated teardrop-shaped sculptures in warm rose-gold or copper finish hang from delicate rods, their surfaces smooth as polished river stones and warm to the eye like sunset-touched metal, tapering from rounded tops to pointed tips approximately four meters above the floor. The walls curve inward with organic fluidity, their surfaces cool white marble suggesting the temperature of carved stone or porcelain, their texture appearing smooth and finely polished with subtle natural veining. Moving toward the center background, the dramatic focal point emerges: a sculptural spiral in bronze or copper descends from an elliptical ceiling opening ringed with warm amber illumination like captured sunlight, the ribbon-like form twisting as it drops toward a textured hemispheric vessel below. A solitary figure in dark clothing walks through the space at right, providing human scale that reveals the monumental proportions, approximately six meters to the ceiling. The atmosphere suggests hushed reverence, cool air, and the subtle resonance of an acoustically refined chamber, with light feeling diffused yet warm at the golden center point.

This work is located at the international finance island, Nansha District, Guangzhou City, China. Here waves roll back and forth in flexible curves and fish leap out of the sea in an elegant arc. The designer extracted elements from these stunning sights around the island and transformed them into interior decorations and sculptures which are interspersed at every corner. It is hoped that guests can enjoy leisure time in the space where the atmosphere of cities and nature coexist harmoniously.
